Winning Hearts & Minds, One Telemarketer @ a Time

If you want to promote Republican candidates and conservative positions without having to send money to the RNC or a PAC, try this:  Next time you receive a telemarketing solicitation, listen briefly and politely to the caller and then engage that individual in a discussion about how important you believe it is to support the President and our military efforts in Iraq.  Chances are they will stay on the line (as they’ve been trained to do), hoping that they’ll be able to regain control of the conversation and complete a sale.  Such a situation presents a unique opportunity to educate and influence another American to our point of view, without encountering the usual apathy or confrontation, often associated with ‘political discussions’.  The reason being, that these phone solicitors will (generally) listen passively, hoping not to offend their ‘mark’, by being confrontational.

Unlike readers of this blog, most people are not politically informed but can be positively influenced by our convictions and knowledge, especially after this practice spreads and telemarketers start having similar conversations, several times a day.  Remember, they called you – the least we can do is make it worth everyone’s while.  I started doing this a few weeks ago and have had more success, than I ever expected, in influencing these callers.  I plan too keep this effort going through the 2008 elections and I hope you will, too.

I used to get irritated when the phone rang during dinner or the ball game, but now I realize the great opportunity each call represents, to show other voters that there are, in fact, regular people (their prospects) that do not want the Liberal/Defeatist Agenda to be advanced and don’t want to give Hillary Clinton the chance to appoint more ACLU Lawyers to the Supreme Court. In order to ‘reach out and touch’ even more voters; consider canceling your call-blocking on telemarketing.  To accomplish this, call (888) 382-1222, or go to www.donotcall.gov

P.S. let’s keep this on the QT.  We wouldn’t want democrats copying our little plan.

What about the expression...

After the news about Michael Vick participating in Dog Fights surfaced, most pundits claimed they weren't previously aware of the "sport".  Haven't they ever heard the expression, "(he's) got a dog in this fight"?  Apparently, (its) just a little more commonplace than people care to admit.  Perhaps it, along with Buffalo Hunting, Whaling and Cow-Tipping, has just become politically incorrect?

Gary Cooper, please come home

An Iraqi man saved the lives of four U.S. Soldiers and eight civilians when he intercepted a suicide bomber during a Concerned Citizens meeting in the town of al-Arafia Aug. 18.

I'd like to wake up tomorrow morning, turn on the news and see President Bush, in Iraq, shaking hands with this man's Father and thanking him for his son’s bravery on behalf of all Americans.  Next, I'd like the President to take the Father on board, Air Force One, fly him to Washington D.C. and, as suggested by 1300170, award his son (posthumously) the Medal of Honor or whatever medal is deemed appropriate,  in a public ceremony.  Come January, this Father should be seated in the gallery, next to Laura Bush, during the President's next State of the Union address.  I'd also like to see some modern day “Sergeant Yorks" get similar public recognition and honors, and I'm sure there are many great American soldiers who are so deserving.  Gary Cooper, where are you?

Liberal Media Meltdown

In its never-ending quest to find new and creative ways to insult and disparage the Bush/Cheney Administration, the Denver Post has plumbed new depths with “Vick and Dick” (7/29/07).  Imagine the Post Editorial Editors salivating when comic strip writer, Andrew Feinstein submitted his timely and insightful missive “What the Falcons QB may have in common with America’s VP.”  In an obvious effort to ‘elevate’ the political discourse, the Post has published, what could possibly be, its most far-fetched and insipid diatribe yet.

According to Feinstein, quarterback Michael Vick is alleged to be involved in dog fighting, therefore the Vice President of the United States of America, former Secretary of Defense, former Presidential Chief-of-Staff, former multi-term Congressman and lifelong outdoorsman/hunter is guilty of “committing a vile act of inhumane torture against animals”.  Since the surname of ‘Vick’ rhymes with the proper name of ‘Dick’, it must be true.  And as they both have earned a lot of money in their professional careers, Feinstein loathes them, has judged them guilty (without the inconvenience of a trial) and advocates their immediate jailing and torture.

According to this line of reasoning; Paris Hilton was found guilty of DUI and jailed, and since Paris rhymes with Ferris and it was Ferris Bueller who faked being sick in Chicago, and since Barak Obama is from the ‘Windy City’, Obama must be faking his promise to keep America safe from International Terrorism, and therefore Obama is really as bad as Osama!  More names that rhyme – Proof positive!

“Shoeless” Joe Jackson was accused of cheating and kicked out of Baseball, and since “Slow” Joe Biden confessed to plagiarism in the 2004 democrat primary, it must follow that Joe Biden should be removed from the Senate.  After all, they are both named ‘Joe’ and, according to the Post and Andrew Feinstein, what more evidence is necessary?

Four Iraqi civilians were killed by “happy fire” following the Iraqi Soccer team’s victory.

And, George Bush once said he was ‘happy’ that the US and Coalition forces were ‘victorious’ over Saddam’s army.  Therefore, using Denver Post logic, it is a fact that, Bush caused the victorious Iraqis to celebrate with stray gunfire and therefore, must be ‘happy’ that these innocents died.  Surely, this alone constitutes grounds to file Articles of Impeachment.

Don’t ever let it be said that Andrew Feinstein and Denver Post can’t “connect the dots”.

Israel - who 'really' loves ya?

 KenBob is the President of a Liberal/Zionist Organization, based in New York City called Amienu.  Recently, he along with representatives of many Jewish groups met with Pres. Bush and other Administartion officials as well as democrat leaders in Congress.  Subsequently, Bob reported in his organization's newsletter that Dems were more authentic in their support of Israel than Bush & Co. to which I responded as follows;

It’s hard to understand how Nancy Pelosi' pilgrimage to Syria makes her a "better friend to Israel" than President Bush.  Based upon what, does KenBob actually think Bashir Assad is to be consulted much less trusted?  Perhaps the Lebanese/Syrian model is one these unappointed democrat emissaries wish to foist on Israel should they ever get the chance?  Maybe Bob believes that democrat proposals to abandon the Iraqi Democracy ASAP will help protect Israel from  Iran/Hezbollah/Hamas better than Pres. Bush who's positioned 157,000 American Troops right on Iran's doorstep?

Bob reports that the Democrat leadership he heard speak, believe that certain (Administration) policies have actually worsened Israel’s strategic and security standing, but fails to identify even one example.

Mr. Bob claims that the President did not express a sense of "urgency" in helping Israel pursue a peaceful resolution with the Palestinians. Is President Bob advocating that President Bush reach out NOW to Palestinians beyond Abu Mazen? Should we release funds to those jolly Hamasnics, you know - the ones throwing Fatah guys and gals off the rooftops?  Perhaps Mr. Bob would like Mr. Bush to invite Nasrallah to Camp David or hook-up with Ahmadinejad & Haniya for Oslo II - "The Final Peace Solution"? Jimmy Carter couldn't bring "Peace" to the Middle East.  Bubba Clinton couldn't bring "Peace" to the Middle East, only the Palestinians can bring about the conditions for peace, but first they have to purge the terrorist-gangs from their territories.  The battle for Gaza was just the beginning and was a profound defeat for the 'moderate' Palestinians.  One need only look at how the democratic government of Lebanon is dealing with Al Qaeda insurgents, who have taken up residence in their Palestinian Refugee Camps, to see the ultimate future of Hamas in Gaza and/or Hezbollah in the North.  Such decisiveness would warm the heart of Ariel Sharon and certainly should vindicate his approach to terrorists in 1980. President Bush's understands and accepts that real peace must wait until after the Palestinian Civil War runs its inevitable course to its natural conclusion.  KenBob and the democrats would endanger Israel's future by forcing premature 'negotiations' with unpacified Palestinians.

GOP cuts aid to No One

In his article, Anti-Abortion Politics, Inter-Mountain Jewish News (6/28/07) reporter, Ron Kampeas seemed to relish reporting that GOP lawmakers were not supporting, an Omnibus Foreign Operations Bill which included, money for Israel.  Kampeas implied that past Republican support for Israel was no more than a Public Relations deception, when in fact, its been the liberal Left that has repeatedly chastised Israel and encouraged Palestinian terrorist attacks.

Nowhere in his article did Kampeas disclose why Aid for Contraception in “cultures of diversity” (Asia & Africa) was jammed into this appropriation and who conspired to put this ‘Poison Pill’ in the Bill.  Imagine my surprise to learn that Democrats out-number Republicans on the House Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs by 9 – 6 and include such stalwart supporters of Israel as; Jesse L. Jackson, Jr. (D –IL) and Barbara Lee (D-CA).

Putting $3.75 million (1%) of controversial Abortion-Funding in a $3.42 Billion Foreign Aid Bill was politically-motivated to put Republicans-of-Conscience in an untenable position vis a vie other funding priorities in that Bill, including money for Israel.  It’s as if these Democrats spread a little pork fat on the Shabbat meal and then berated the Rabbis for not chowing-down.

Liberals may have gained the majority in Congress over concerns about Iraq or Republicans not holding the line on spending, but no one would agree that Democrats won a mandate to impose Federally-funded Abortions into the Foreign Affairs Budget.  If these Democrats were the least bit honest they’d put Abortion funding to a vote, on its own merits, and if Ron Kampeas were being honest he’d have reported it as such. Denver Post quits on Rockies and Iraqis

Apparently, our ‘Culture of Quitting’ has now reached into the Post’s Press Box at Coors Field: “Does anybody really believe this team's culture of losing can change until O'Dowd and Hurdle are gone?” mark kiszla | columnist (5/25/07), “Sadly, one of the most popular rationalizations at Coors Field is to blame The Denver Post for the Rockies' problems.” jim armstrong - opening shots (5/25/07).  Given the Rock’s near-record performance (7-0), which began the very day these baseball ‘Karnaks’ threw-in-the-towel, I can only hope that Armstrong & Kizla will soon be opining that, “Iraq (too) is lost”.  Coming from these ‘Fans-of-little-faith’, we should then expect that good news from Baghdad is just around the corner.   Go Rockies, keep the faith, USA, USA, USA!

Stein crossed the line

During WWII and the Korean War, ‘the Greatest Generation’ volunteers included; A-list Hollywood actors, best selling Big Band leaders, celebrity entertainers and professional sports figures.  In battle, some fought and lived, some distinguished themselves and some died.  In the interest of maintaining National moral, the Press made each and every one of them out to be heroes and our Country was proud, Americans were inspired and we gained the inevitable triumph.

By contrast, Pat Tillman’s celebrity service stands nearly alone in the annals of today’s military. And today’s ‘drive-by’ Media seems to relish, in diminishing his ultimate sacrifice, by prominently featuring his accidental ‘friendly fire’ death and our Military’s desire to keep the legend of his service positive.

The U.S. Military, trying to downplay the specific circumstances of Tillman’s death or Jessica Lynch’s rescue (hoping to keep our Nation focused on the true threat of Islamo-fascism) apparently was too tempting for Rocky Mountain News political cartoonist, Ed Stein.  His drawing (4/28/07) showing the Pentagon shooting and killing ‘the Truth’, equates those faulty Pentagon propaganda efforts with Al Queda’s stated desire to indiscriminately kill average Americans.  The biggest challenge, to defeating Al Queda, is for Americans to take seriously the continuing threat posed to us by the Islamo-fascists. For Stein to suggest that our own Military poses a comparable threat is unconscionable and clearly shows Stein’s contempt for the very soldiers who fight and die to preserve (his) freedom and his right to free speech.  Ed Stein’s cartoon is neither funny nor truthful and it is unworthy of Pat Tillman’s legacy.

Imus Inquisition Redux

In the wake of the Don Imus inquisition, Bill Menezes (director, Colorado Media Matters) is only too happy to throw some of his own partisan fuel on the fire, in his Speakout column (Rocky Mountain News - 4/13/07).  Menezes, proposes Jihad on local conservative Talk Show hosts for citing facts and statistics, which he disagrees with.  Meanwhile, over on Air America, local morning talkers, Jay Marvin & John M. get a pass from Menezes, the Media Matters guru and self-appointed arbiter of truth, justice and the American way.  Perhaps Menezes wasn’t yet awake in mid-February, when Marvin called President Bush a “criminal and retard” to which his sidekick added, “You can’t trust anything Bush says, he lies about everything”.  Again in early March, John M. said “Republicans run every agency in the Federal Government and purposefully deny poor people benefits”.   These statements go well beyond a simple disagreement over facts; these statements are derogatory, hateful and seditious.  And to make matters even worst, John M. simultaneously masquerades as a legitimate journalist, delivering his own version of the News on other Clear Channel radio stations.  It takes a strong constitution to monitor the endless hours of political-porn spewing-out from the hosts and listeners on Air America, but if what’s being broadcast over the public airwaves really mattered to Menezes, he’d first advocate using his “accountability’ bar-of-soap on the M&M Boys in Boulder.  By comparison, these guys make Imus look darn near holy!

Lies from the Left

Rocky Mountain News, political baffoonist, Ed Stein is so lame he has to lie to try to get laughs.  His cartoon (3/21/07) showing President Bush proclaiming that he wants “Four More Years (in Iraq)” is the kind of lie that Stein hopes readers start to believe, when in fact, it’s the President’s political opponents who want withdrawal deadlines and unworkably-short ones at that.  Given Stein’s political bias, it’s no surprise that he sees nothing disingenuous about how his fellow liberals claim to ‘support the troops’ while climbing all over each other, to be the first to force a retreat from (their) mission.  Instead, Stein puts words (never spoken) in Bush’s mouth to distract attention from what the ‘cut & run’ democrats are actually all about.

Admittedly, the President’s steadfast resolve to prevail over al-Qaida and in Iraq is reflected in lowered popularity polls.  But, even those surveys show that some 35 percent of Americans stand firmly with their Commander and Chief.  Nonetheless, during a just concluded, 22-day period, the RMN ran 24 political cartoons that were critical of the Bush Administration, its Iraq policy or Republicans in general, while during that same time period, it ran only three cartoons lampooning democrats. A similar ratio applied to all Editorials and Opinion pieces.

While the Rocky might be ‘balanced’ on economic and civic issues, a simple accounting shows that with regard to ‘anything Bush’ (its) reporting, editorials and political cartoons are decidedly biased against the President.  And, when it comes to Ed Stein’s personal brand of political venom, he never lets a little thing like the truth get in his way – after all, what fun would that be?

'flipp'en' Mike Keefe

Mike Keefe’s cartoon (Denver Post 3/11/07) showing former Sec. of State, James Baker, III flipping off the President is beneath contempt and factually wrong.  Keefe wants us to believe that Pres. Bush didn’t respect Baker’s Iraq Study Group and that he won’t be taking seriously a similar study on conditions at Walter Reed either.

During his testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Mr. Baker said a precipitous withdrawal (of U.S. troops) would be “catastrophic” and would undoubtedly lead to a “regional war.”  He told Senators, they needed to put aside political bickering, work together to achieve the best plan and then approach the president, adding that ‘if the executive and legislative branches work out a plan in a truly bipartisan manner and all pull on the same oar, you’ll then see the poll numbers (on Iraq) rise.”  Baker added that although the Study Group did not include a troop increase among its recommendations; it did outline conditions under which one would be acceptable.  He then lent his own support to Bush’s troop surge saying, “The president’s plan ought to be given a chance.”

To which the President responded, "This report gives a very tough assessment of the situation in Iraq. It is a report that brings some really very interesting proposals, and we will take every proposal seriously and we will act in a timely fashion. ... this report will give us all an opportunity to find common ground, for the good of the country.”

Despite the fact that, Baker actually respects Bush and Bush respects the work done by Baker, Mike Keefe disrespects them both and apparently has no respect for the truth either.

Bias against Bush

Upon much reflection, I have come realize that the Main Stream Media (MSM) considers itself to be ‘fair & balanced’ because they cover issues of concern to both liberals and conservatives.  Being predominately liberals themselves, these media think that simply covering conservative issues or activities proves their professionalism regardless of the “progressive” ‘spin’ or perspective they advance.  They also consider their editorial policy, regarding general political/economic issues, is balanced because they occasionally advocate for business, lower taxes, fiscal responsibility or religious freedom.  Therefore, when the MSM is accused of having a Liberal Bias, they can claim its not so.  But, with regard to how the MSM covers and editorializes on President Bush, the War and other prominent Republicans, I contend that they are decidedly negative.

When is the last time you saw a headline praising George Bush or a prominent photo of him looking strong and presidential?  When’s the last time you saw an optimistic report filed out of Iraq or Afghanistan, a positive piece on any prominent Republican or the ugly comments of people like: Bill Maher, Al Franken or Jimmy Carter lampooned and derided as obscene, erroneous and treasonous?

I’ve recently monitored the Rocky Mountain News (which its editor, John Temple claims is “center-right”), over the period of 2/28/07 – 3/8/07, where I found 24 editorials, political cartoons or national blogs running down the President, his policies or Republican candidates, one editorial (on those subjects) that was neutral but none which were supportive or positive - zero, zilch, nada.  Beyond this, I can take any news article the RMN printed about the Administration, the War or Republicans (in general) and identify specific negative characterizations, adverbs and adjectives used in those stories and/or headlines.  I imagine that the same would be true about MSM coverage of Christianity.

To be specific and more accurate, while the MSM can claim it does not have a liberal bias, there is no way that (they) can deny that they are anti-Conservative, anti-Administration and anti-Bush. On this claim, there’s no way they can argue their case and its here that we conservatives should make our claim against them.

Cokie & Steve Come Clean

Steve and Cokie Roberts’ most recent column, Dems must tread very carefully, advises democrats to continue to criticize George W. Bush on his Iraq policy, but to eschew their “moral” convictions to actually take any legislative action.  Cokie & Steve think that losing in Iraq is a ‘political’ winner for the Dems; as long as their hands are clean they plan on pinning everything bad on Bush.

Omitted from the Roberts column is any mention of al Qaida’s responsibility for making a mess of Iraq, the desire for America to prevail in Iraq or for the Iraqi government to succeed.  Messers Roberts not only expect the U.S. to lose in Iraq, they are openly cheering for the failure of democracy in Baghdad, as their best hope for a democrat victory in Washington D.C.

Ironically, while Steve & Cokie disparage Vice President Cheney for taking on anti-war critics, these despicable columnists make the Veep’s case themselves.  Claiming that Dems were elected with an anti-war mandate belies the defeat of Ned Lamont.  Voters may have been unhappy with Republican governance, but the vote in 2006 was not one for retreat or defeat in Iraq.

As Obama, Edwards and Richardson vie to be the first to abandon our international commitments, Hillary claims that,”had I known then what I now know today, I wouldn’t have voted to give the President the authority to invade Iraq.”  In other words, Mrs. Clinton is saying that she would have voted to have left Saddam in power, would have been satisfied when the U.N. inspectors got hood-winked, would have allowed Gulf War sanctions and no-fly zones to be dismantled and would have trusted that Hussein and Sons, Inc. would not reconstitute nuclear capabilities and would have believed that those weapons would not be handed-off to terrorist organizations.

By the way, if President Bush could get that same ‘do-over’ (given perfect hindsight), what would he have done differently over the past 4 years?  Apparently, in the next Clinton Administration, ‘The Buck does NOT Stop here”.

If you think that today’s democrats stand for defeat, I give you Cokie & Steve Roberts.

If you think that the democrat front-runners were for cutting & running, I give you Barak, John, Bill and Hill.

But if you think that winning the peace is paramount, let’s give the troops time to improve conditions on the ground in Iraq.

Betting that the war is headed for a crash, may not be prudent and our next great “folk hero” may yet be George W. Bush.

Look in his Eye - See the Lie

Its time someone grabbed Rocky Mountain News columnist, Bill Johnson by one of his partisan ears and introduced a few knuckles of reality to his agenda-filled head.  After threatening to drag a local talk radio listener off (Rocky Talk, 2/28/07), to the home of a recent military casualty, for a “true discussion of the war” - Johnson does nothing of the kind.  Instead, Johnson presents a biography of that fallen soldier and the sadness of his mother.  No ‘discussion ‘ about the honorable motivations of this man, just another attempt to shove a microphone in the face of someone who’s still grieving a recent loss, in order to maximize the emotional impact of the war, rather than presenting an intelligent discussion of the facts about Iraq.

Furthermore, Johnson tries to minimize the soldier’s volunteer service, by focusing on his underprivileged background, in an attempt to create the impression that both he and his mom are victims - rather than patriots.

Everyday dozens of dedicated public servants; policemen, fire fighters, bus drivers, etc. are killed in the line of duty.  Why do reporters, like Johnson, rush all the way up to Fort Carson to feature this soldier’s death, while ignoring the sacrifice of so many others?  Why does the Rocky zero – in on every casualty halfway around the world (in Iraq), when there are 50x more dead on America’s highways every day, 7x more pedestrian deaths every month and an near equal number of Law Enforcement Officers/Fire Fighters killed in the line of duty every year?  Did Johnson or any other Rocky reporter bemoan military deaths during the Clinton Administration, which regularly exceeded annual U.S. losses in Iraq?  Does Johnson seek to honor this fallen hero or use his sacrifice to further erode the resolve (of his readers), to prevail in Iraq and buttress the advance of Islamo-Fascism and if so – why?

Perhaps the talk show caller, who almost hacked Johnson right off the road, already answered that question…its all politics.

The Press – Fighting for freedom in all the wrong places

The past six years certainly have been busy ones for the Main Stream Press (MSP) or, as they are more affectionately called here on the Right side of the dial, ‘The Drive-By Media’.  Every effort by the Bush Administration to fight the War on Terrorism has been met, by the MSP, with righteous accusations that our Civil Liberties are being trampled upon:  imbedding reporters, interrogating enemy combatants, intercepting terrorist communications, investigating terrorist finances, incarcerating enemy prisoners, enacting military tribunals and observing rules of engagement.  So far, despite their best imaginative and conspiratorial thinking, the MSP has failed to actually unearth any violations of our Civil Rights.

Meanwhile, these erstwhile defenders of Freedom have failed to report on the actual demise of democratic institutions in other parts of the world such as; Russia, Nicaragua and Venezuela.  Obviously, it would be unrealistic to think that the MSP would be courageous enough to investigate Civil and Human Rights abuses under the dictatorial control of truly oppressive regimes.  They are called the “Axis of Evil” because the term ‘Lawless’ just doesn’t quite capture the human deprivation that they tolerate.

The MSP has been effective in one regard.  Through their relentless campaign of unfounded accusations, they have effectively weakened President Bush politically, to the point where he didn’t have the international support to champion internal, democratic reforms being undermined by Putin, Ortega and Chavez.  Despite the falsity of their reports, the President’s moral stature was constantly undermined by the MSP making it possible, for the real violators of civil and human rights, to deflect legitimate criticisms away from their own repressive policies.

For all the MSP’s ‘supposed’ efforts to protect the powerless people in society, Americans have never been freer, more prosperous and more educated than at any time in history.  Sadly, the same cannot be said for many millions of people around the world, who’ve seen their hard-fought freedoms disappear, during the past decade, while (the great self-proclaimed defenders of democracy and human rights) the MSP kept silent on their behalf.
